Iron Butt Logo The IBA has teamed up with the BMW Motorcycle Owners of America for a special SaddleSore 1000. Called the Salem 1000, the ride will finish at the MOA's International Rally, which is being held from July 18-21, 2013 in Salem, Oregon.

Riders can start anytime between 12:01 a.m. Saturday, July 13th and 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 18th from any location over 1,000 miles from Salem.

During registration, you will be asked to enter the basic cities your route will use or you can choose one of this start locations (press city name for route map)

ALL ROADS LEAD TO SALEM AND THE 2013 BMWMOA INTERNATIONAL RALLY!

1) Miles City, Montana - awarded 1,080 miles (either via I-90 or Lolo Pass in Montana)

2) Sheridan, Wyoming - awarded 1,065 miles (either via I-90 or Lolo Pass in Montana)

3) San Diego, California - awarded 1,040 miles

4) Rawlins, Wyoming - awarded 1,040 (either via I-84 or US-20) miles

5) Moab, Utah - awarded 1,048 miles

5) Kingman, Arizona - awarded 1,040 miles and also a very demanding route!

These cities were chosen as start points in an effort to simplify the documentation requirements for riders. You have 24 hours to complete the 1,000+ mile to Salem to be considered a finisher.

There will also be a Saddlesore that starts right from the MOA Rally fairgrounds that you may start anytime between between 12:01 a.m. Saturday, July 13th (for those that arrive early due to volunteer duties during the week) and 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 18th . This one is a Oregon in-state SaddleSore 1000, called the Salem Fire and Ice 1000. Riders will start in Salem, then continue on to Coos Bay, Grants Pass, Crater Lake National Park (will require entrance fee), and Pendleton before returning to Salem. You will be credited with 1,010 miles for this very difficult ride.

Finishers of either the ride in or Fire and Ice 1000 will receive a distinctive IBA Salem 1000 certification, SaddleSore 1000 ride pin, special Salem 1000 sticker and IBA World's Toughest Plate back along with memebership in the IBA. And in what we hope will be the first of many such events, an IBA-MOA Pizza Party Awards Ceremony for Salem 1000 finishers will be held at the Rally too! The fee is $60.

The Salem 1000 Ride in is not limited just to BMW riders – all marques are welcome! However, you must also be registered to attend the BMW MOA rally - visit 2013 BMW MOA Rally - to partcipate in the SaddleSore 1000.

To register for the SaddleSore rides, visit www.ironbuttrecords.com, create an account (note: the registration system uses the Paypal engine) and then follow the link to Salem 1000. Registration is $60 please remember, you must also be registered to attend the BMW MOA rally!

IMPORTANT: Due to financial commitments, the refund deadline for the Salem 1000 is July 1, 2013. After that, you may elect to do the ride up to one year (July 20, 2014) and mail your ride documents in.
