The Brazilian Memorial Ride 2015

Foi no início de 2013 que migramos o grupo de Brasileiros certificados
do Yahoo para o Facebook. A primeira ação que tomei foi procurar na
lista oficial de membros o nome dos Brasileiros e procura-los no
Facebook. Um dos primeiros foi o Percy.
Percy Negreiros da Costa era seu nome.
Eu procurava o nome, enviava uma mensagem para a pessoa explicando que
estávamos formando o grupo e pedia a permissão para adicioná-lo ao
mesmo. Foi assim com o Percy, que foi um dos primeiros. Eu não tinha
ideia da sorte que teria em fazer isso. Ele imediatamente aceitou e,
além disso, imediatamente começou a me ajudar nesse trabalho. Fomos aos
poucos juntando as pessoas no grupo do Facebook que passou de 25
pessoas (do antigo Yahoo) para mais de 600 hoje. Sem pedir nada em
troca, Percy que era um artista da comunicação, começou a movimentar o
grupo com postagens interessantes e artes específicas para o que se
tornou o nosso Iron Butt Brasil. Claro, isso tudo virou uma forte
amizade, uma família!
Em junho de 2013 fizemos o nosso primeiro encontro oficial que foi na
cidade de Porto Alegre. Percy fez de tudo para que o encontro fosse um
sucesso e foi. Poucos associados apareceram, mas a repercussão foi
muito positiva. Tanto que após isso nosso grupo teve muitas adesões e
assim, além das amizades conquistadas, conseguimos motivar mais pessoas
a participar das provas e se certificarem como membros da associação.
Em 2014 um novo encontro oficial, desta vez na cidade turística de
Urubici, no estado de Santa Catarina. Ai veio a explosão. Muitas
pessoas participaram. Imagino que havia mais de 100 pessoas. Tudo sob o
olhar motivador do amigo e parceiro Percy. Ele se preocupava com tudo,
desde o que faríamos nos encontros até os adesivos, camisetas e
principalmente em ajudar as pessoas que queriam fazer uma viagem
certificada, a se prepararem e executarem suas viagens.
Nós conversávamos todos os dias através das redes sociais. Ele sempre
foi muito querido de todos. Sempre pronto a ajudar, com um sorriso no
rosto e uma boa vontade que em poucas pessoas tive oportunidade de ver.
Em novembro de 2014 eu estava viajando de moto e a noite, como sempre
fazia, olhei o Facebook e me deparei com uma notícia horrível. O meu
amigo Percy havia nos deixado. Os amigos do grupo evitaram postar a
notícia onde eu pudesse ver para não atrapalhar minha viagem, porém não
houve maneiras de me esconder. Fiz contato com um amigo em comum para
confirmar, sem acreditar na notícia que estava lendo. Mas era verdade,
meu amigo havia nos deixado.
Ao contrário do que imaginei inicialmente, o grupo não se dispersou com
esse acontecido. Ficou sim muito mais unido, homenageando sempre o
nosso amigo Percy, em todas as oportunidades possíveis.
Esta viagem, Memorial Ride, é em homenagem a esta pessoa, que com
simplicidade e espírito fraterno, conquistou nossos corações e nos
ensinou o verdadeiro valor de se ter amigos.
Meu amigo, meu irmão Percy, esta viagem é para você! Sei que está
conosco em todas as nossas viagens certificadas, mas nesta em especial,
faremos com o pensamento em seu legado e teremos a cada vez que
olharmos este certificado, a certeza que você está conosco!
"The Brazilian Memorial Ride 2015"
It was at the beginning of 2013 that we migrated the IBA Brazilian
Members Group from Yahoo to Facebook. The first action I took was to
look on the official list of members the name of Brazilians and looking
for them on Facebook. One of the first was Percy.
Percy Negreiros da Costa was his name.
I was looking for the name, sent a message to the person explaining
that we were forming the Group and asked for permission to add it. It
was so with Percy, who was one of the first. I had no idea how lucky I
would have to do that. He immediately accepted and, moreover,
immediately began to help me in this work. We've been gradually putting
the people in the Facebook group that went from 25 people (the old
Yahoo) to more than 600 today. Without asking anything in return, Percy
was an artist, began to move the group with interesting posts and arts
specific to what became our Iron Butt Brazil. Of course, it all turned
into a strong friendship, a family!
In June of 2013 we had our first official Meeting that was in the city
of Porto Alegre. Percy did everything to that meeting was a success and
it was. Few associates appeared, but the impact was very positive. So
much so that after that our group had many accessions, and so, besides
the friendships we can motivate won, more people to participate and
make sure as members of the Association. In 2014, a new official
meeting, this time in the resort town of Urubici, State of Santa
Catarina. There came the explosion. Many people attended. I imagine
there were more than 100 people. All under the watchful eye of our
friend and partner Percy. He worried about everything from what we
would do in the meetings until the stickers, t-shirts and mainly to
help people who wanted to do a certified travel, prepare and implement
your travels.
We used to talk every day by the social networks. He was always very
dear to all. Always ready to help, with a smile on her face and a good
will that in few people had a chance to see.
In November 2014 I was traveling on a motorcycle and at night, as I
always did, I checked Facebook and came across a horrible news. My
friend Percy had left us. The friends of the Group avoided posting the
news where I could see, but there were no ways to hide. I made contact
with a mutual friend to confirm, without believing in the news I was
reading. But it was true, my friend had left us.
Contrary to what I thought initially, the Group has not dispersed with
this happened. Was Yes more, honoring always our friend Percy, at every
opportunity.
This trip, Memorial Ride, is named after this person, who with
simplicity and fraternal spirit, won our hearts and taught us the true
value of having friends.
My friend, my brother Percy, this trip is for you! I know you're with
us in all our certified travel, but this in particular, are we going to
do with the thought of your legacy and we will have every time I look
at this script, make sure you're with us!
