Background:

The Martin Luther King Memorial Ride is a motorcycle ride on Martin Luther King Jr.Day, the third Monday in January.  Any regular Iron butt ride can qualify for a Martin Luther King Memorial Ride.

Read the rules for the iconic SaddleSore 1000 on the Ironbutt Association site.  The rules for this ride are similar and you will get valuable background information.

Documentation:  See below.

Definitions

DBR - Dated Business Receipt

A DBR is a machine generated receipt with the date, time and LOCATION on it.  Check it - do not assume it is correct.  A receipt with an incorrect time/date/location is worthless.  Check and re-check.

Rules

--You must complete each ride in the alotted time.

--You must visit at least five sites listed on the United States Civil Rights Trail website
----Take a 'selfie' with the site in the background.
----Label the photo with the name of the site.
----ALSO, obtain a DBR from the city in which the site is located.
NOTE:  For this requirement, you may NOT submit site visits that are within sixty miles of each other.  In other words, don't collect five pictures in Birmingham, Alabama and then go ride 1,000 miles.

--You may take any route you like.

Fees:  See Fee page

Your official time is determined by the starting and ending receipts.  PLEASE check these documents and make sure the clock and date are correct!

Spotwalla.com is strongly recommended but not required.

Remember it is YOUR responsibility to prove you did the ride.  Spotwalla goes a long way towards this proof.
